About Us
Le Sallay International Academy is an international middle school that follows a blended learning model combining online classes with quarterly in-person study sessions. Usually, our in-person sessions are held at Chateau Le Sallay in France. During the pandemic, we alternated our in-person sessions between US and European locations depending on availability.
Our mission is to provide every student with an opportunity to develop their skills and learn to the best of their ability. With individualized guidance, pioneering practices, and continuous exploration, we help students get inspired and challenge them to grow. Our history curriculum is comprehensive and aims to provide a balanced view of historical events. We chose not to focus on one country, but look at different periods of history across the different regions of the world.
Teacher of History
We have one position open. The applicant can reside in either US time zone or the European time zone.
Applicants must be able to travel and must be available for in-person sessions, four times a year, approximately three weeks at a time. At all other times, teachers must have a reliable internet connection for teaching daily online classes.
Responsibilities include
- Teach a course in World History and Geography to middle school students aged 10 - 14
- Develop curriculum based on international standards
- Adapt learning plans to different students' needs in co-operation with the diversity learning co-ordinator
- Evaluate students' progress and assess the quality of work
- Plan interdisciplinary classes with other Humanities teachers
- Supervise students during the in-person learning sessions
Required
- MA or higher in the relevant subject area
- Ability to travel internationally
- Availability for all in-person sessions: 3 weeks, 4 times per year
- Reliable internet connection
Preferred
- Ph.D. in the subject area
- Experience in teaching world history (not limited to American history only)
- Over two years of teaching experience
- Experience in using online learning management systems, platforms, and services
Skills and Qualities
- Team player
- Experience and/or interest in co-teaching
- Commitment to the ideas of inclusion for diverse learners
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances (e.g COVID)
- A sense of humor and humility
