Dr. Matthew McConnell

Matthew McConnell graduated summa cum laude from University of Tulsa with a B.A. in English and philosophy. After work as a high school teacher, he was accepted to the English Ph.D. program at Cornell University, where he completed his doctorate in 2017 in Middle English literature. His research explores the literary culture of London in the early 14th century, prior to the birth of Chaucer, and his dissertation examines the development of women's reading culture, as evidenced in the famous Auchinleck manuscript. He also studies medievalisms, pop culture, and genre fiction. He now lives in Ithaca, NY with his partner Hannah and cat Lemon. He enjoys gardening, writing poetry, cooking, and board games.
